2 sentenced for online sexual offenses

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Two men have been sentenced to prison in U.S. District Court in Lafayette for going online and attempt to entice underage girls to meet them. In both cases, the intended target was an undercover federal agent.
Both men were sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote.
The Advertiser reports Forest Bobbett, 60, of Baton Rouge was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The U.S. Attorney's Office said Bobbett participated in an online chat Jan. 4, 2011, with an undercover officer he believed to be a 14-yearold female from Lafayette and identified himself to the girl as a 58-year-old male from Baton Rouge. As the chats continued, agents say Bobbett used a webcam to expose himself.
James Dustin Smith, 30, of Ventress was sentenced today to serve 134 months in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Smith participated in online chats from March 29, 2011, to April 5, 2011, with an undercover officer he believed to be a 14-year-old female from Lafayette and identified himself to the girl as a 29-year-old male from Baton Rouge. As the chats continued, federal agents said Smith sent a sexually explicit picture of himself and asked the girl if she would perform oral sex on him.
