PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - Authorities say two officers followed
proper procedures in shooting at a Pineville man after he rammed a police car with his vehicle during a chase in December.
A Pineville police officer and a Rapides Parish sheriff's deputy fired at 19-year-old Corey Cheek, after his vehicle rammed a Pineville police car on Dec. 20. Cheek was wounded by the gunfire.
The Pineville Police Department and the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a joint investigation into the incident and determined that both officers followed proper protocol.
The Pineville officer was placed on administrative leave during the investigation. Investigators say both unidentified officers were back on duty Wednesday.
