NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Two men in jail in connection with the hit-and-run death of a New Orleans police officer have been indicted in connection with a 2005 shooting death.
28-year-old John Chambers and 28-year-old Kenneth Halley are accused of gunning down 21-year-old Joseph Lucien on April 5, 2005.
Halley and Chambers were arrested in 2005, but were not prosecuted in the killing. On Thursday, both men were indicted on charges of second-degree murder.
While investigating Officer Rodney Thomas' death on July 7, police say detectives learned new information about Halley and Chambers which led them to revisit the 2005 murder case.
