Press Release- Lafayette Police have arrested Wesley James Monroe, Jr. (29) of Lafayette and Jermain Ason (18) of Lafayette, charging both men with 1st Degree Murder in connection with the November 6, 2010, death of Thomas Jolivette. Monroe is also being charged with Aggravated Kidnapping and Armed Robbery regarding an incident that occurred on October 13, 2010. Evidence collected at both scenes and processed by the Acadiana Crime Lab connected Monroe to both crimes. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of further arrest in the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
UPDATE II: Vehicle of Interest Sought

Investigators with Lafayette Police have requested the public's assistance in locating a vehicle that was at or around the area where the victim's vehicle was located. The vehicle in question is described as an older model Buick or Oldsmobile painted white with a canary yellow top. Anyone with information about a vehicle with this description is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
UPDATE: Police Identify Homicide Victim

Police have identified the reported homicide victim as Thomas Jolivette (43) of Lafayette. The investigation continues. The Lafayette Police Department is asking anyone with information concerning this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS or Lafayette Police 291-8600.
Police Investigate Homicide
A patrolling Lafayette Police Officer discovered the body of a victim in the alley of businesses located in the 2000 block of W. University Ave. The discovery was made at approximately 2:27 am Saturday November 6, 2010. The victim is described as a middle aged black male. Injuries to the victim suggest that foul play is involved. The investigation is ongoing. The Lafayette Police Department is asking anyone with information concerning this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS (8477) or the Lafayette Police Department at 337 291-8600.
