BELLE CHASSE, La. (AP) - The federal government has awarded $600,000 to two community development organizations in Belle Chasse and Ferriday to handle distressed housing and concentrations of poverty.
Macon Ridge Community Development Corp. will get $300,000 to build 10 single-family homes in Ferriday over the next 24 months.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development also said the program will support a revolving loan fund to increase home ownership by low- and moderate-income families in the Lower Mississippi Delta Region.
In Belle Chase, Pilgrim Rest Community Development Agency will get $300,000 to build a rental housing development for low-to-moderate income residents in Port Sulphur.
