Two juveniles are in police custody accused of breaking into a Broussard business and stealing multiple guns.
Early Sunday morning, Broussard Police responded to an alarm call at Railside Feed on Albertson Pkwy. Officers discovered the business was burglarized and several guns were stolen. Investigators began collecting evidence and video from the location to identify the suspects.
Today, the Abbeville Police Department contacted Broussard police in reference to a juvenile suspect in custody in a carjacking investigation. Abbeville police located several guns, shoes, bandannas and clothes in a vehicle, according to police. The teen suspect was interviewed by investigators and confessed to being involved in the Railside burglary, according to police.
Broussard Police located the second suspect at a house on Ned L Street in Broussard. The second suspect confessed to the crime and was transferred to Abbeville Police Department for the carjacking case.
The investigation revealed that both suspects escaped to the Lafayette-area from the Youth Challenge Program in Minden on Saturday. The two stole the clothes used in the burglary from the Wal-Mart in Broussard, according to police.
Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Facility on the charges of: Aggravated Burglary and Theft.
Six of the guns were recovered, but there is still one missing. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the gun or further info on the crime, please contact Broussard Police.
