NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Attorney in New Orleans says two former police officers have each been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty in theft and fraud conspiracies.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite says in a Thursday news release that 39-year-old Rafael Dobard and 33-year-old Quincy Jones were both narcotics detectives in the New Orleans Police Department.
Polite said both admitted to fraudulently obtaining money from the department's fund for confidential informants. They also admitted to submitting time sheets that showed they were working for the department when they were actually doing private-duty work.
