WOODVILLE, Texas - The Tyler County Sheriff's Office says
an apparent land dispute has left two cousins dead and the
suspected gunman in custody.
The sheriff's department says 77-year-old Donald David Legg of
Shreveport, La., was held without bail Thursday on two counts of
capital murder. Dispatcher Natalie Minton says no attorney was
listed for Legg.
A Department of Public Safety trooper answered a call late
Wednesday afternoon near Woodville about shots fired and arrested
Legg as he allegedly was cutting some barbed wire.
The victims were 73-year-old Preston Irvin Broom Sr. and
78-year-old Leo Henry "Buster" Broom.
Sheriff David Hennigan said that neither victim owned
the disputed property and that Legg apparently thinks the land is
his.
Woodville is 95 miles northeast of Houston.
