2 dead after car drives into barrier

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Two men died and a third was injured after the car they were in drove head on into a concrete barrier at the intersection of La. Highway 14 and the Interstate 210 East exit.

Lake Charles Deputy Police Chief Mark Kraus says officials don't know why the car continued through the intersection, which has traffic signals.

Kraus says two of the car's occupants died at the scene, and a third was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police are withholding the names of the deceased until their relatives are notified.
