1979 rape claim results in charge

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Calcasieu Parish grand jury has indicted a Sulphur man for the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl in 1979.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso said in a news release the now 42-year-old complainant filed charges against 73-year-old Nathan B. Adams after learning he was indicted for indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
Sulphur police arrested Adams in August 2010 and January 2011 for the recent allegations, which reportedly involved two girls, one 9 years old and the other 11.
Mancuso tells The American Press Adams was released from the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $250,000 bond.
Mancuso said there is no statute of limitations for aggravated rape and anyone who feels they have been a victim by Adams should contact the sheriff's office or any law enforcement agency.
