Troopers say, one person is dead after two 18-wheelers hit head on, on I-10, near Henderson, this evening. The accident happed around 8:00pm. State police say the eastbound truck crossed the median, colliding with the other big rig (westbound) and burst into flames. Troopers say, the driver of the eastbound truck did not make it out alive. At this time, the other 18 wheeler is flipped on its side, no word on that drivers injuries.
State Police say the westbound lanes of I10 near Henderson, will be closed for several more hours. Eastbound lanes reopened just before 10:00.
Troopers also say the 18 wheeler that burst into flames was carrying "drilling mud" which is a petroleum based substance. The Dept of Environmental Quality will be in charge of cleanup.
