The Lafayette Parish School System hosted their annual golf tournament on March 4th at the Farm d'Allie Golf Club in Carencro, Louisiana. The tournament was in support of the Superintendent's Scholarship fund, which awards graduating high school seniors from Lafayette Parish with a one-year post-secondary scholarship. With the support of several South Louisiana individuals and organizations, over $300,000 has been awarded in college scholarships over the past 16 years. Their sponsorships have been able to provide numerous Lafayette Parish high school seniors with this opportunity since many may have otherwise been unable to obtain the funds needed to continue on the path of receiving a secondary education. This year's tournament had the largest turnout to date, with over $45,000 raised for the student's scholarship program and 124 players participated. The deadline for students to apply for the Superintendent's Golf Tournament scholarship is April 8, 2013. This is an excellent opportunity for LPSS to directly help students who have a financial need for college. You may visit www.lpssonline.com to download an application.
