LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The tally of applicants for Lafayette Parish schools superintendent is now at 16.
Only 10 will be selected for October interviews.
At least two more Louisiana candidates have added their name to the list for consideration, bringing the total of in-state applicants to four.
So far, The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/qEJMaa) no administrators within the Lafayette Parish School System have applied.
The application period for the job closes Sept. 12. The board plans to choose a new superintendent by Dec. 7. Current Superintendent Burnell Lemoine's contract ends Dec. 31, and he plans to retire.
