LAKE CHARLES, La. - A 14-year-old juvenile has been arrested for using an online photo-sharing and social networking service to make threats.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Kim Myers says CPSO received a report regarding threats being made toward students at Barbe High School.
Authorities say an investigation revealed an account was created on Instagram, which showed pictures of the school and students containing comments that threatened the safety of the facility and students, to be carried out Monday, April 8.
Detectives tracked the origin of the I.P. address back to a 14-year-old student who attends Barbe High School.
The student was arrested and booked into the juvenile detention center on Sunday and is charged with terrorizing.
Detectives say at this stage in the investigation they have not found any intent or ability by the student to carry out the act. The security of the school was not in any danger according to authorities.
CPSO Detective Brent Young is the lead investigator on this case.
