14-year-old girl caught in crossfire dies

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) Lake Charles police say a teenage girl who was caught in the crossfire of a weekend shooting has died as the result of her wound.

The shooting occurred Saturday night. Police tell the American Press that 14-year-old Alexus Rankins died at 12:35 p.m. Monday at a Lake Charles hospital.

Police Sgt. Mark Kraus said that there were about 35 witnesses to the shooting.
