13yo arrested for possession of weapon, alcohol

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and faces several charges after authorities found him in possession of a weapon and alcohol at a Shreveport elementary school.
The Shreveport Police Department says the juvenile was arrested Tuesday after school officials at Werner Park Elementary notified police that the student had a BB gun and what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage in a back pack. Detectives say the boy, at some point during the morning, pointed the weapon at another child.
Police say an officer immediately seized the contraband and took the child into custody without incident. He was booked into the parish juvenile detention center on one count each of carrying a weapon on school property, aggravated assault and possession of alcohol by a minor.
