STERLINGTON, La. (AP) - Union Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy.
Sheriff Bob Buckley tells The News-Star a call came into the sheriff's office around 4:45 p.m. Monday that a child had possibly drowned in a private pool off west of Sterlington in Union Parish.
Buckley said the boy had been swimming with a group of children and adults when someone told the kids to get out of the pool.
When one of the kids noticed the boy at the bottom of the pool, someone from the group called deputies.
Once deputies arrived, they began resuscitating the child and got a faint pulse.
Buckley said the boy was then taken to a Monroe hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's name has not been released.
