MONROE, La. (AP) - A former Monroe City School Board member, a former Monroe assistant superintendent and a central office administrator are among the latest applicants for superintendent of Monroe City Schools.
Search committee chairman Rodney McFarland says the district received applications Wednesday from former board member Brenda Shelling, interim chief academic officer Tammye Turpin and former assistant superintendent Mary Guinn of Metairie.
These applicants bring the total number of applicants for the position to 12.
The board would like for the applicant chosen to assume the position on July 1, but members have discussed bringing the new superintendent in before that date to work with interim superintendent Derenda Flowers before taking over the job.
