SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - One person was killed and another
seriously injured when a SUV crossed the median of Interstate 220 and struck another vehicle.
The accident happened Tuesday in the westbound lanes of I-220, just north of the Jefferson-Paige Road overpass in far west Shreveport.
Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies say the driver of a small Toyota that didn't make contact with the other vehicles, admitted to causing the crash.
Deputies say 19-year-old Lauren Llewellyn of Shreveport said she was attempting to enter the interstate when she accidentally cut off the driver of the SUV. The SUV then veered across the interstate and hit a van.
Llewellyn was issued a citation for careless operation.
Deputies say the lone occupant of the van -- 50-year-old Sherry Gartee Chandler -- was pronounced dead on the scene.
