LaPLACE, La. (AP) - Authorities say a wrong-way driver was killed when the vehicle they were driving crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 10 near LaPlace, critically injuring four others.
Louisiana State Trooper Nick Manale says a driver was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 early Friday and crashed head-on with another vehicle with four inside. The car traveling the wrong way burst into flames.
Manale says an 18-wheeler then sideswiped the wreck and two other vehicles hit the 18-wheeler. He didn't know if there were any injuries in those crashes.
Manale says the westbound lanes of I-10 are closed and traffic is being diverted.
