NEW ORLEANS (AP) - One woman dead and more than a dozen people were injured after a multi-vehicle accident shut down part of the Interstate 610 eastbound in New Orleans.
According to investigators, a 30-year-old Slidell man driving a dump truck lost control and struck a car, causing a chain reaction crash with 11 other vehicles Tuesday afternoon.
New Orleans police booked the driver, Michael Lindsey, with manslaughter. Police say speed is believed to be a factor in crash.
Officers say a 76-year-old woman was killed in the crash, and 17 others were injured. Three of those are in critical condition.
Police have not released the victim's name.
