1 drowns, 1 critical after nearly drowning in NO

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say one man has drowned and another is in critical condition after nearly drowning in separate parts of New Orleans.

Authorities say one man died at a hospital after being pulled from Lake Pontchartrain near the New Orleans Outfall Canal.

The other went under in Bayou St. John by Orleans Avenue and Moss Street.

Both incidents occurred about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Both men reportedly were in their 20s. Neither man's name was available.
