HOPEDALE, La. (AP) - One person was killed and at least one was hospitalized after two recreational boats collided in a southeastern Louisiana canal near Breton Sound.
A state Wildlife and Fisheries Department spokesman said the Thursday morning collision involved an 18-foot aluminum boat with two people aboard and a 25-foot fiber glass boat carrying seven people.
One person was dead at the scene, another was hospitalized.
Wildlife and Fisheries agents and St. Bernard Parish officials recovered seven others from the water. Agents say one of those had minor injuries but it was unclear whether that person would require hospitalization.
