A 45-year-old woman has been arrested on charges of simple arson after she reportedly set her house on fire.
Mandy Wilson was arrested Friday afternoon, shortly after the Monroe Fire Department contained a residential fire at her home.
Firefighters were dispatched to the residence around 9 a.m. and were able to control the blaze within minutes.
Chief fire investigator David Hill said Wilson was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.
According to the arrest affidavit, damages from the fire were in excess of $40,000. The fire was determined to be an incendiary fire with the presence of accelerants.
Wilson was found next door hiding under a storage building, and she had a strong odor of accelerant, the affidavit said.
