LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A spokeswoman says Raymond "Coach"
Blanco - a former vice president at the University of Louisiana at
Lafayette and husband of the former governor - is recovering at
Tulane Medical Center after a weekend fall.
Family spokeswoman Marie Centanni tells The Advertiser that
Blanco and former Gov. Kathleen Blanco were staying with a friend
in New Orleans when Blanco fell.
Centanni said he was still in the hospital Wednesday.
She won't release details about his condition, and hospital
spokeswoman Sarah Balyeat said the Blancos don't want the hospital
to comment.
Raymond Blanco retired in 2009 from the university where he had
worked for nearly 50 years. Kathleen Blanco, the state's first
female governor, served from 2004 to 2008. They live in Lafayette.
