    Washington Cancels Mardi Gras Parade

    The Town of Washington has canceled its Mardi Gras parade. Representatives from town hall say the marching bands who normally play in the parade all had prior engagements and could not perform this year, resulting in the cancellation. We tried to contact Mayor Joseph Pitre, but he was unavailable for comment.

    This month at the Lydia Library, it's Mardi Gras Mambo time. Before you hit the parade this carnival season, bring your children to the Lydia Library to make their very own
    Mardi Gras masks. Drop in on Saturday, February 9 from 10:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m.

    Children of all ages are welcome, however younger children may require more parental assistance. Call 364.7808 for more info. Sponsors include Friends of the Library and Iberia
