    Chief Ricky Martin has created an advisory committee for the St. Martinville Police Department. "The main focus of this committee will be to get suggestions and recommendations from citizens as part of our Community Partnership Initiative," the chief said. "The committee with meet once a month regarding youth programs, drug programs, community policing and any other matter in which the community feels will benefit the city and make the city a safer place to live."...

    Officials with the Lafayette Fire Department confirm they are on the scene of a house fire in north Lafayette.  The fire is in the 100 block of N. Montauban Dr. in the La Bon Vie subdivision off Veterinarian Dr. There is no word on the extent of the fire or any injuries. We have a crew on the scene and we will update this story as more information becomes available.

At Café Vermilionville, also known as Café V, the owners and employees are ready to get back to work. "One is really bad but two is just terrible," said owner Ken Veron.
