Abbeville infant's death heads to grand jury

Autopsy results are back for a three-month old Abbeville baby girl who died in December after suffering severe injuries. The only information police would reveal about the autopsy is that Jayla Broussard died from blunt force trauma to the head, which the coroner had already ruled in December. (More)

Teen charged as adult in Abbeville shooting

A 16-year-old Abbeville boy accused of shooting a teenager will be charged as an adult. Gene Williams III is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder in the March 24 shooting that injured a 15-year-old boy.
The alleged shooting happened around 3:18 in the morning, and when police arrived at the intersection of Myrtle St. and Franks Alley, a passerby had already taken the teen to a hospital. Shortly after, police arrested Williams.

LDWF to Sell Whooping Crane Prints to Raise Conservation Funds

Audit of Road Home Program Shows Improperly Used Funds

Abbeville Man Accused of Burning Van, Trailer

An Abbeville man is behind bars on two counts of simple arson. Police say John Marvin set fire to a trailer and a van early Sunday morning in the 2900 block of Rodeo Road. Officials say Marvin and the victim had been arguing the day before.

Road closing Monday at Rockefeller refuge

CAMERON, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says Lake Price Road will be closed beginning Monday at the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in Cameron and Vermilion parishes. The road is a primary access point for outdoor recreation on the western end of the refuge. (More)

Bridge Closed for Emergency Repairs in Vermilion Parish

A timber bridge on LA 91, just south of Gueydan, 1.4 miles south of La. 14 in Vermilion Parish, will be closed for emergency repairs beginning on Monday, April, 1, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. The work is expected to take approximately 5 days, with weather permitting. A detour will consist of LA 3143, LA 711 and LA 14. The Department regrets the inconvenience caused to the traveling public.
