    Two elderly women robbed at gunpoint; suspects caught

    Three arrests, including a juvenile, have been made in connection with the early morning armed robbery of two elderly women.

    Vermilion Parish deputies say just after 11:00 am, a call came in regarding an armed robbery at a home off Andrus Road near Maurice.

    Abbeville Man Convicted of Armed Robbery

    An Abbeville man has been convicted on armed robbery charges. Tracy Harris robbed a convenience store in the 1200 block of South State Street last June. The victim told officers Harris was armed with a knife and hit her in the face before taking off with cash. Harris now faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison.

    Police Juror Proposes Saggy Pants Ordinance

    A Vermilion Parish Police Juror wants to crack down on sagging pants in his parish. Ronald Darby suggested an ordinance outlawing loose leggings that allow underwear to show during a committee meeting Monday. Several Vermilion Parish towns already have ordinances like this on the books, and the police jury's attorney is studying them to see what can be learned from them. No time table has been set to introduce this ordinance.

    Maurice Man Indicted on Sex Charges

    A Vermilion Parish grand jury has indicted a Maurice man on a number of sex charges involving children. Bruce Vincent, 47, is charged with aggravated rape, oral sexual battery, indecent behavior with a juvenile, two counts of child molestation, and three counts of sexual battery. According to grand jury documents, the incidents took place between 2000 and 2012. If convicted, Vincent could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
