Man Charged in Bayou Vista Stabbing

A Bayou Vista man is in a hospital and another is in jail following a stabbing Wednesday night. St. Mary Parish sheriff's deputies say 19-year-old Layne Michael Aucoin was visiting the victim's home when he pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the torso. Aucoin is charged with aggravated second-degree battery. Bond has not been set.

A flood warning is in effect for the Atchafalya River at Morgan City, all thanks to high water levels along the Mississippi River up north. Meterologists are predicting the Atchfalaya to crest at 5.5 feet in mid-May. But will that be enough to cause major problems for Morgan City?

St. Mary Parish voters to decide on hospital tax renewal

A ballot item in Hospital Service District No. 1 will allow voters there to decide if they want to renew a 10-year, 3.47-mill property tax, generating an estimated $590,000 a year, to maintain and operate hospital facilities.
