A school cafeteria in the City of Franklin is closed following the discovery of a carbon monoxide leak. The Franklin Fire Department received a call from St. John Elementary School Wednesday after several cafeteria workers complained they weren't feeling well. Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois says children were evacuated from a nearby classroom as a precaution. Gas company crews are at the school today to find the source of the leak.

Baldwin police are investigating an attempted burglary that took place Tuesday night at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Police say Father Greg Cormier was returning to the rectory last night when he found the suspect trying to break into the home through a door. The suspect fled without entering. The only description police gave of the suspect was that he is a black male. Anyone with any information about this incident should call Baldwin police at 337-923-4845.

The St. Mary Parish Council will consider tonight an introductory ordinance that would ban the exposure of certain body parts and underwear. The ordinance, introduced by Councilman Steve Bierhorst, would prohibit people in the parish from exposing skin or undergarments below the waist. If approved tonight, a public hearing and a vote for final adoption will take place on June 12.

Police arrested a Morgan City man who's accused of attempted rape in Houma. Morgan City Police found Omar Morales Hernandez, 19, at his home on Halsey Street.
Hernandez is in the Morgan City Jail waiting to to be tranferred to the Houma Police Dept. Police say the alleged rape happened on or about May 5.

A Bayou Vista man has been arrested on video voyeurism charges. St. Mary Parish sheriff's deputies say 43-year-old Gerald Guillory, Jr., recorded a female family member three years ago while she was bathing. Another relative discovered the video and alerted authorities. Guillory is free on $30,000 bond.
