Update: Firefighters are working to put out a truck fire on I-10, eastbound, at mile marker 118 over the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. State Police say a truck carrying produce had a blowout, then the vehicle caught fire. The driver did get out safely. All eastbound traffic is being rerouted north at I-49 in Lafayette. Louisiana State Police say the highway will be closed for the next five hours.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is on scene of a pedestrian accident near Breaux Bridge High School. Deputies say, the pedestrian was airlifted and taken to an area hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time. More details will be released when it becomes available.

The Cajun Area Agency On Aging is concerned about its Meals On Wheels program. Due to federal spending cuts and cuts from the Older Americans Act, Meals On Wheels in eight Acadiana parishes faces a loss of more than 10,000 meals effective July 1. KATC's Allison Bourne-Vanneck spoke to 92-year-old Lena Usie who's concerned because she relies on these meals daily.

A Breaux Bridge shooting suspect is behind bars on attempted second-degree murder charges. Police say Mark Thomas turned surrendered Thursday. He is the alleged gunman in a March 3 shooting on Richard Street. Investigators say several shots were fired, but the intended victim was not hit. Thomas is being held on $42,500 bond.

A longtime St. Martin Parish public servant has died. Lloyd "Red" Higginbotham passed away Thursday at his home. He was 86.
