    No wake zone in lower St. Martin Parish

    (St. Martinville)- With the approaching Memorial Day Holiday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office would like to remind citizens that a No Wake Zone is in effect for Lower St. Martin Parish (Stephensville/Belle River). The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office along with area law enforcement agencies will be patrolling the water ways and will be strictly enforcing the No Wake Zone.

    The St. Martin Parish School Board has partnered with the St. Martinville Kiwanis Swimming Organization, to give kindergarten students basic swimming lessons. Tonight, Akeam Ashford explains how this program not only teaches kids how to swim, but it has helped bring a community together.

    The former mayor of Henderson has died. Earl "To-Bit" Patin passed away Tuesday at his home. He was 74. Patin served as a village councilman for eight years before serving as Henderson's mayor from 1996 until 2004.     St. Martinville Police arrest a man in connection with two recent school burglaries.

    Police say, 23-year-old Delanius Narcisse was arrested after a search was conducted at a residence inside the city limits. Narcisse is accused of breaking into the Early Learning Center. He was booked on 2 counts simple burglary, 2 counts criminal damage to property 2 counts of theft.

    A Breaux Bridge reserve police officer is in the Lafayette Parish Jail after he allegedly kicked in the door at his ex-girlfriend's apartment. Forty-year-old Roland Shello, Jr., is charged with home invasion. The incident took place Wednesday night around 10:15 in the 300 block of Amesbury Drive. (More)
