The Lafayette Parish School Board met today to discuss its budget and how to cover a $12 million shortfall projected for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

A woman is in stable condition after being stabbed in the chest Saturday afternoon.
Jennings police say they responded to a call at the intersection of Orange Street and Renshaw. When they arrived they found the female with the stab wound. Police say she was transported to the hospital where she is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
Officers say they did arrest a male suspect without incident.
