Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Ivy Woods wants to announce that deputies will be participating in the Click it or Ticket program May 20 through June 2. Deputies will be patrolling the parish looking for seat belt and child restraint violations.

A Jennings man is in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail and charged with attempted manslaughter in connection with a weekend stabbing. The incident took place Saturday at the corner of Orange and Renshaw Streets. Investigators say 72-year-old Floyd Daniels stabbed the unidentified female victim during an argument. A neighbor heard the fight and stepped in to stop Daniels. The victim is in ICU at a local hospital in stable condition.

A woman is in stable condition after being stabbed in the chest Saturday afternoon.
Jennings police say they responded to a call at the intersection of Orange Street and Renshaw. When they arrived they found the female with the stab wound. Police say she was transported to the hospital where she is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
Officers say they did arrest a male suspect without incident.

Two women are accused of scamming an 85-year-old woman out of $6,000. The two alleged scammers at Walmart showed the woman a bag of what appeared to be "a large amount of money," Jennings Police Department Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said. Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's deputies recovered another stolen four-wheeler in Sandy Hill Road area of Roanoke. After arresting two people on Friday, detectives discovered another stolen ATV that was reported to them on Monday.

Jennings police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a shooting in the 1200 block of Shirley Dr. Investigators suspect robbery was the motive when the teen allegedly shot a man in the upper leg, Deputy Chief Danny Semmes said.
The teen is charged with attempted robbery and attempted first degree murder. Police anticipate a second arrest. The man who was shot is recovering from his wound.
