A Ville Platte man is charged with attempted second-degree murder following a shooting. Ville Platte police say 34-year-old T. C. Charles pulled a gun on the victim and shot him in the abdomen during an argument. Charles turned himself into authorities and is being held on $125,000 bond.

Police say a woman was allegedly using two juveniles to go into a local business with counterfeit $100 bills and exchange it for change. The cashier was aware that the money was counterfeit and participated in exchanging it for real money according to police.

The crossing guard killed this morning in Evangeline Parish has been identified as 60-year-old Reserve Deputy John Granger of Reddell. Troopers say the crash happened on LA Highway 10 at LA Highway 376.

Two more suspects in the Mamou Piggly Wiggly robbery have been arrested. Mamou police caught Kaworski Matthew and Robert "Pee Wee" Smith and charged them with armed robbery. Some Turkey Creek residents are under a boil advisory at this hour. The Turkey Creek Water System has put the advisory in effect for the area bordered by Junction Road, Wilson Campbell Road, LA 13, and Jewel Lane and for the area from Crooked Creek Parkway to Rob Mac Road. Residents with no water are encouraged to boil their water until further notice.

State police have confirmed to KATC that a crossing guard was killed in an accident earlier this morning. The crash took place just before 8:00 this morning near Vidrine Elementary School at the corner of LA 10 and Tiger Lane. State troopers are at the scene investigating the incident. A person has been killed in an accident near Vidrine Elementary School. The incident took place just before 8:00 this morning near the corner of LA 10 and Tiger Lane. State police say the accident involved a crossing guard, but they cannot confirm at this time who died. We will bring you more information as it develops.
