    Autism walk scheduled in Evangeline Parish

    Evangeline CAN (Community Autism Network) will host an inaugural 1 mile walk on April 13, 2013 from 9am - 1pm at the Ville Platte Civic Center Pavilion. The walk will begin at 10am. All proceeds will benefit Evangeline CAN.

    Registration fee is $20 per person and is due by March 20, 2013. (More)

    All Public Schools in Evangeline Parish are closed on Thursday, January 10th. All Supervisors should still report to school in the morning. Superintendent Toni Hamlin says the first floor of Mamou High School is flooding.

    Teen Goes Missing while Hunting; Found in Crawfish Pond

    A 17-year-old Evangeline Parish boy is recovering in a local hospital after going missing near his St. Landry home. Detectives say the boy, who has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, went hunting behind his house, but he got lost in the woods. Sheriff's deputies began their search around 11:00 last night and found the boy around 10:00 this morning in a crawfish pond about a quarter of a mile away from his home.

    Detectives with Louisiana State Police arrested Bradley Smith, 57, of Ville Platte, for possession of child pornography.
