The State Attorney General's Office has charged a Ville Platte man with two counts of Medicaid fraud. Investigators say 36-year-old Brady Hudspeth filed false timesheets with the New Orleans care center for which he worked, resulting in Medicaid being falsely billed. If convicted, Hudspeth could face five years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.

A 19-year-old cold rape case came to a close today with a guilty verdict. An Evangeline Parish jury found 50-year-old Lawrence Walker Lafleur guilty of forcible rape. The prosecution used DNA evidence to tie Lafleur to the 1994 incident, which took place in a Mamou laundromat. Sentencing is scheduled for June 6.

Ville Platte Police Officer Forest Robinson is on administrative leave while a complaint against him is being investigated. Robinson is accused of using excessive force on a man, Chief Neal Lartigue said. Because it's under investigation, the chief will not talk about the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

Two Pine Prairie men are in jail on charges they had sex with a dog. Nathan Wells and Joshua Granger were booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on one count each of crimes against nature. Investigators began looking into the matter after receiving tips from concerned citizens. Wells and Granger are being held on $7,500 bond.
