The coroner is on scene along Hawks Road (pictured) in Acadia parish, investigating a badly decomposed body found in a wooded-area near Rayne. According to the coroner, the body is that of a man and has likely been there for less than one week. It was discovered this afternoon by a boy riding a four-wheeler, near a road which serves as an entrance for an oil-well. The case is being investigated as a homicide, and the remains will be sent to Lake Charles for an autopsy.

The first chief of the Richard Volunteer Fire Department has died. Funeral services for Robert Keith will be held this morning at 10:30 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Richard. Keith died last Thursday. He was 78.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office say a man is in custody for attempted second-degree murder as part of the ongoing investigation of an incident that left two people injured and a third person dead after a trail ride party Sunday evening.

Acadia Parish Deputies identified the man who was killed Sunday in a triple shooting as 18-year-old D'Andre Goodley of Eunice.
So far, no arrests have been made. The shooting happened at a gas station off LA-35 in Branch just after eight o'clock Sunday night.
