    Cajuns Host "Battle on the Bayou" 7v7 Tournament

    During the summer in football it's officially 7 on 7 season. UL hosting their Battle on the Bayou 7 on 7 camp Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns held 5 round robin games for each team inside their practice facility before starting tournament play in the afternoon. Then the Final Four moved onto Cajun Field for the semifinals.  19 teams were in attendance including Lafayette, Comeaux, Northside, Teurlings and STM.

    The Manning Passing Academy continuing today in Thibodaux with their Air It Out challenge. Among the list of the nation's best QB selected to be counselors there were two representatives from the Sun Belt including ULM junior caleb evans. 2017 was a breakout year for the Warhawks signal caller, as he finished 3rd in the Sun Belt in total offense at 287 yards per game along with 30 total touchdowns and a 61% completion percentage.

    We Are Opelousas hosted its second annual benefit basketball tournament. The tournament, which was held at Opelousas High, raises money to support disadvantaged kids by sponsoring their participation in summer programs.  The group was founded by three Opelousas Police officers.  "We just want to show a different side of the city," said Nelson Simmons, Tournament Organizer. "We're not just violence. We're here to support our youth."

    A Baton Rouge man died in a Friday afternoon crash on I-10 in St. Charles Parish.  The accident happened at about 3:30 p.m., a spokesman for State Police Troop B said.     Lafayette Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with yesterday's shooting at a Willow Street apartment complex. The teen was booked with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery, police say.  The victim, a 17-year-old boy, sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover, police say. So far, the investigation has found that the teens were involved in a dispute prior to the shooting, police say.

    During the summer in football it's officially 7 on 7 season. UL hosting their Battle on the Bayou 7 on 7 camp Saturday. The Ragin' Cajuns held 5 round robin games for each team inside their practice facility before starting tournament play in the afternoon. Then the Final Four moved onto Cajun Field for the semifinals.  19 teams were in attendance including Lafayette, Comeaux, Northside, Teurlings and STM.

    The Manning Passing Academy continuing today in Thibodaux with their Air It Out challenge. Among the list of the nation's best QB selected to be counselors there were two representatives from the Sun Belt including ULM junior caleb evans. 2017 was a breakout year for the Warhawks signal caller, as he finished 3rd in the Sun Belt in total offense at 287 yards per game along with 30 total touchdowns and a 61% completion percentage.
