    A fire damaged a family home in Iota last night. Firefighters were called to the 200 block of South Third Street at about 6:45 p.m., a spokesman said. A total of 27 firefighters and three trucks from the Iota and Egan volunteer fire departments fought the fire for nearly two hours before bringing it under control. Investigators determined that the fire started with a pot on the stove. No injuries were reported.

On May 6th, 2017, during the early morning hours, a victim lost his wallet which contained credit cards, according to a spokeswoman for the Lake Charles Police Department.  Shortly after losing his wallet, one of the victim's credit cards was used at numerous locations in Lake Charles.  

    The public's help is needed in identifying a suspect caught on surveillance allegedly using a stolen credit card.
