    There will be a fundraiser benefit for a Kaplan teen June 3 in Rayne. Emma's Dream is a fundraiser for Emma Broussard who was injured in an ATV crash in 2015. All funds raised from the event will be donated to Emma's medical treatment.

    A fire damaged a family home in Iota last night. Firefighters were called to the 200 block of South Third Street at about 6:45 p.m., a spokesman said. A total of 27 firefighters and three trucks from the Iota and Egan volunteer fire departments fought the fire for nearly two hours before bringing it under control. Investigators determined that the fire started with a pot on the stove. No injuries were reported.

    While the severe weather is over, more communities are seeing water. In Acadia Parish, back flooding is taking its toll on the city of Crowley. Tonight the Mermentau River quickly rising. It's now flowing into Bayou Plaquemine and affecting the city of Crowley. While cars try to pass through the flooded North Parkerson Avenue in Crowley, Sherree Lejeune watches the wake push the water closer to home. Inch by inch, the water rises putting her home in jeopardy.
