    SULPHUR, La. - The Lafayette Cajuns defeat the Lake Charles Cowboys in the I-10 Bowl,17-14. Rayne RB Trent Winbush wins I-10 MVP. The I-10 Bowl pits the best high school football players in the 337 against each other, in one final showcase on the high school gridiron. Lafayette now leads the series 2-0.

    BATON ROUGE – A wild final 61 seconds resulted in a winning bucket with five seconds left to be followed by a missed layup by LSU with just over one second to play that resulted in a Stephen F. Austin 83-82 upset win over LSU Saturday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers fall for the third time this year and go to 6-3 while Stephen F. Austin is now 10-1 on the year.

    BATON ROUGE - LSU Junior Fullback Bry'kiethon Mouton is transferring from the program.  The former Acadiana star announcing the move on twitter Friday, but has not said where his next destination is.  Mouton played 11 games in 2015 as a freshman, including five starts. He was the lead blocker for All-American Leonard Fournette. He scored his only touchdown with the Tigers in 2016 versus Jacksonville State.

    The NFL has fined Saints head coach Sean Payton $10,000 for "improperly entering the field of play" in last Thursday night's loss to the Falcons. The fine stems from a fourth quarter play in which Payton was penalized after an exchange of words with officials following a timeout. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and Jaguars assistants Pat Flaherty and Keenan McCardell were also fined by the league this week.

    LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball head coach Gerry Glasco announced that Brittany Rodriguez, a three-time first team all-conference performer, has transferred to play for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the 2018 season. Rodriguez comes to Louisiana from Lamar where she hit .380-plus and was a first team All-Southland Conference selection each of the past two seasons.

(AP) - Jimbo Fisher, who coached Florida State to its third national title in 2013 and opened this season with his team ranked in the top five, is leaving to take the same job at Texas A&M.    Fisher told university President John Thrasher on Friday that he was resigning to accept Texas A&M's offer.    "I believe Texas A&M is getting one of the best coaches in college football.

    Vermilion Catholic football coach Brady Thomas resigned Friday after one season. Thomas led the Eagles to a 10-3 season and the state semifinals. He told KATC that he had family matters and job opportunities back home, and felt it was the right decision to move back to Texas. Thomas came to Acadiana as a quarterback for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. He played for UL from 2008-2012. He also spent time as an assistant with the team.

The I-10 Bowl pits the best high school football players in the 337 against each other, in one final showcase on the high school gridiron. Lafayette now leads the series 2-0.
